DESCRIPTION

Chris Kenner was an American R&B singer and songwriter, best known for his hit song "I Like It Like That." Born in Kenner, Louisiana in 1929, he began his music career in the 1950s, recording for various labels including Imperial Records.

"I Like It Like That" was Kenner's biggest hit, released in 1961. The song's infectious rhythm and catchy lyrics made it a chart success, reaching the top 2 on the Billboard R&B chart and the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kenner's style was characterized by his energetic delivery and his ability to infuse rhythm and blues with elements of New Orleans' vibrant musical culture. He often collaborated with other notable musicians from the New Orleans music scene.

In addition to "I Like It Like That," Kenner recorded several other songs that achieved moderate success, including "Something You Got," which was later covered by numerous artists including Wilson Pickett and Irma Thomas.

Although he didn't achieve widespread fame beyond his hit singles, Chris Kenner's contributions to R&B music, particularly in capturing the spirit of New Orleans' musical traditions, have earned him a lasting legacy in the genre.
