What Vinyl Records Are We Looking to Buy?

Let’s face it — vinyl’s been around for a long time, and the record world is vast and ever-changing. So, what are we after? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but there are plenty of vinyl records we’re very keen to get our hands on… and a few we’d rather leave behind.

Fast Payment or Bonus Credit

We offer instant cash payments, or if you prefer store credit, we’ll boost the value by 20–30%. You can spend it right away or save it for later — your call!

Let’s Start with What We Don’t Buy:

Some records are just too common or too niche for our customers. Even in perfect condition, these artists typically don’t hold any resale value — so we usually don’t buy:

  • Pop vocals (e.g. Bing Crosby, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett)

  • Easy listening (e.g. Mantovani, Ray Conniff, Percy Faith, 101 Strings)

  • Reader’s Digest/Time-Life classical or opera box sets

  • Broadway cast albums from the 60s (e.g. South Pacific, My Fair Lady, A Chorus Line)

  • Soundtracks from the 60s (Sound of Music, West Side Story, Oklahoma, etc.)

  • Big band & swing (e.g. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie)

  • 70s–80s mainstream country (e.g. Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle)

  • Opera and classical

  • Comedy albums

  • New age (e.g. Yanni, Kitaro, Windham Hill releases)

  • Smooth/"wave" jazz (e.g. Kenny G, Spyro Gyra)

  • 45s/7"s that were huge hits, if they don’t have a picture sleeve — unless they’re promos or ultra-rare

  • 78s — except a few gems like pre-WWII blues or Elvis on Sun Records

Now for the Good Stuff — What We Do Want:

We're always on the lookout for vinyl that’s got that extra edge — especially:

  • 60s to current rock/alternative LPs, especially psychedelic, progressive & obscure titles

  • Vinyl released during the "vinyl is dead" era (mid-90s to mid-00s)

  • 50s/60s jazz — bop, bebop, post-bop, and soul jazz

  • Classic blues, R&B, soul & funk

  • Picture sleeve 45s/7” singles/EPs

  • Rare punk, alternative & new wave 7" & 12" singles

  • Audiophile pressings (e.g. Mobile Fidelity, Nautilus)

  • Private pressings, promotional releases & indie label releases

  • Obscure folk, country, and vintage hip-hop

  • Any LPs and 7” vinyl of blue-chip legends: Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Metallica, etc, etc — especially import pressings and rarities

Condition Matters

Even if your records are in-demand, they need to be in excellent condition — both the vinyl and the cover. The more common the title, the more important it is that it’s near-perfect to hold any value.
